Lucy Prebble’s The Effect Extends Off-Broadway

The North American premiere of Lucy Prebble’s The Effect has extended off-Broadway through September 4; it had previously been set to shutter on June 19. Directed by David Cromer, the production began previews on March 2 and officially opened on March 16 at the Barrow Street Theatre.

Hearts racing. Minds reeling. Knees buckling. Connie and Tristan have palpable chemistry—or is it a side effect of a new super-antidepressant? They are volunteers in a clinical trial, but their sudden and illicit romance forces the supervising doctors to face off over the ethical consequences of their work.

The cast includes Kati Brazda, Susannah Flood, Carter Hudson and Steve Key.
